Celebrity gossip website TMZ.com is reporting that the current TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle was arrested over the weekend on charges of driving while intoxicated. According to the report on their website, Kurt Angle was arrested early on Sunday morning by Virginia state troopers. The state troopers were tipped off from other drivers on the road who reported that Kurt Angle was swerving from lane to lane while driving down Interstate 66. Upon his arrest, Kurt Angle was taken to the Warren County Jail, but was eventually released after he posted a $2,000 bond at some point shortly after 3:30am EST. Law enforcement tells TMZ … Angle’s car was spotted by another driver … swerving between lanes on I-66. Angle was busted by Virginia State Troopers, who responded to the call, and taken to Warren County Jail.
He posted $2,000 bond and was released at 3:31 AM.
Angle won the gold medal in wrestling at the 1996 Olympics before turning to professional wrestling. He made his name in the WWE and is currently under contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
