While there wasn’t much in the way of detail, several local channels in Los Angeles such as KCAL9 and KTLA5 (LA’s CW channel) reported in their newscasts late last night that Viacom and Time Warner Cable have reached an agreement to keep all Viacom stations, including MTV, SpikeTV, VH-1, BET, and Nickelodeon among others, on the air while negotiations between the two sides continue.
Negotiations were going down to the wire with Viacom threatening to pull its channels off the air with warning messages appearing on all of its stations asking Time Warner Cable subscribers to call the company and ask them to keep the channel you were watching, which was to shut off January 1st. Apparently the two sides signed a new contract, but absolutely no terms have been announced at this time.
