*** WARNING: THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS IMPACT SPOILERS ***
At Monday’s Impact taping, Christian Cage was pretty much written off television for the time being. Christian was attacked by the newly-formed heel stable Main Event Mafia and left lying at the conclusion of the show. The way the segment was done, it was a clear blow-off of the character. This was done as insurance by TNA since Christian has refused to sign a new contract. If he chooses to stay with the company, he’ll probably debut a new character, but all signs seem to point to his leave.
The latest word we’re getting is that Christian has not decided on switching back to WWE just yet, but is leaning towards that option. He’s still negotiating with TNA and listening to offers, so he’s not a lock just yet. The angle done to blow off his character is very reminiscent of the nWo laying out the Giant before he jumped ship to the WWF in 1999. We should also point out that Kurt Angle has been comparing his new stable Main Event Mafia to be “the new nWo.” Insert your own joke here.
