Switching gears and getting ready to roar are two very different but dynamic individuals. “The Game” Triple H takes on ECW Champion Bobby Lashley in the next match.
The unique factor in this pairing is that each man has done or earned something that the other man has not. In Triple H’s case, he has not won the ECW Championship, where as Lashley has. In Bobby Lashley’s case, Triple H has done everything else. But hence, it is 2006 we are talking about… let’s waste no time with these two.
Tale of the Tape:
TRIPLE H
* World Heavyweight Championship (5 times)
* WWF Championship (5 times) – final reign was as WWF Undisputed Champion
* WWF Intercontinental Championship (5 times)
* WWF European Championship (2 times)
* WWF World Tag Team Championship (1 time) – with Stone Cold Steve Austin
* King of the Ring (1997)
* Royal Rumble Winner (2002)
* Seventh Triple Crown Champion
* Second Grand Slam Champion
BOBBY LASHLEY
* ECW World Heavyweight Championship (1 time, current)
* WWE United States Championship (1 time)
Looks pretty lopsided doesn’t it? Please keep in mind that this contest is based on their 2006 performances. With my disclaimer out of the way… neither man could win a match to save his life in the early going of 2006.
Triple H suffered back to back PPV loses for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania and Backlash. It wasn’t until July when Shawn Michaels returned that he regained his footing by feuding and successfully defeating the McMahons and the Spirit Squad on numerous occassions. DX also traded victories against Team RKO at back to back PPV’s.
Bobby Lashley entered the year being the first SmackDown participant announced in the Royal Rumble, but was quickly thrown out of RAW Tag Team Champions Big Show and Kane after entering 6th. An unsuccessful feud with JBL at No Way Out led to Lashley’s first defeat in singles competition since his debut in mid-2005. Lashley, like Triple H, also lost his WrestleMania match- this one being the Money in the Bank. After a serious sickness sidelined him, Bobby Lashley returned to the ring to take on the 5 other men in the first ever Extreme Elimination Chamber, defeating The Big Show and securing the ECW Championship (became the first African American to hold the title). He hasn’t looked back since.
BOTTOM LINE
This was a very unsuccessful year for them both, but more so for Triple H. He didn’t even get his grubby little paws on ANY gold. At least Bobby Lashley became a champion and impacted the company. Bobby Lashley wins by a close 3 count.
