– Colin Cowherd (the same guy that trashed Eddie Guerrero’s death) on ESPN radio went off on a tangent about how nobody cares about hockey. He said they don’t talk about the Stanley Cup because the consumers have no interest in ESPN covering it. He said that pro wrestling has way more fans than hockey and they don’t even advertise (huh?). He said wrestling fans were all “booger-eaters” but they are loyal and sellout arenas all over the country. Actually, hockey sells out arenas all over the country and at much higher ticket prices and a hell of a lot more frequently, but wrestling has tons more TV viewers. He then talked about how ESPN and newspapers don’t cover pro wrestling even though it’s popular. And yes, he went next to UFC, saying it is the new “it” sport and has replaced boxing as the “man on man” sport in Las Vegas. That’s a ridiculous statement as well. He said stars come to UFC like they used to for big boxing matches, but no mainstream sources cover it and they also sellout arenas even with little advertising. The funny thing is Cowherd must not listen to his own station because UFC advertises like crazy on it. (thanks to Jonathan D’Antoni)
– WWE.com has a pair of articles up to hype tonight’s ECW show, one discussing whether John Cena will show up or not, and the other with comments from Edge regarding his tag match tonight and working in the “ECW enviorment”. As reported, John Cena has been spotted at the arena, so he will definitely be on SCIFI tonight.
