This is the 100th edition of News & Analysis. The section started on January 3, 2003. A year and a half later, here I am, still writing N & A. It’s been one hell of a run, and I have to say it’s been the best hobby I’ve had in the past year or so. I loved every edition, and every e-mail. Every fan who wanted to get in touch with me to share their thoughts on my analysis, as well as the wrestling world in general. There’s few things in life these days that mean something to you. A hobby should be the last thing on the list of things that matter. However, in my case, I love my hobby so much, that it has become a part of me. I guess that’s only logical when your hobby creates a ray of experiences you love. I was always here to try my best and break the news to you. I was always here trying my best to give you the latest up-to-date analysis on wrestling TV shows, and news. I had a blast. It might sound silly for someone to show so much appreciation of a hobby, but there’s few things in life that give you the emotions and feelings I’ve had over the past year and a half writing this column. From the 3 AM chats with my good friend Trevor Hunnicutt over N & A thoughts and opinions, to the wrestling discussions through e-mail with tons of you, to what was perhaps the most touching e-mail I received after the section returned earlier this year, (The e-mail simply stated “Thanks for bringing N & A back. It’s the best column online) this has been tremendous.
I have enjoyed my year and a half at TheBalrogsLair.com. I’d like to thank Trevor Hunnicutt, who has been the inspiration for many editions of N & A thanks to endless conversations on wrestling, and whose friendship I cherrish; Joe Balrog, for always having faith and trust in me, no matter what the situation, and hopefully my work and leadership at TBL has been worth his trust in me; Martin Hawrysko, who helped the concept of N & A come to life; all the people that have worked at TBL and I have had the chance to get to know and work with – you are all great, and I’m happy to have had that opportunity; most important of all — the readers of this section. It was the readers of a little site, called WWF Recap and Thoughts (at the time), that I ran who never gave up on me, and always read my work. They went to TBL, and stayed loyal to me. I won’t forget that at all. Of course, my thanks goes to the rest of the TBL audience that has discovered me and has given me the respect and opportunity of presenting an N & A report to them over the past year and a half.
Upon leaving TBL briefly several months ago, I stopped this section because I felt that it had ran out its course. Unfortunately, as you could see by the lack of updates as of late, and my transition to more analysis and “special commentary” type of updates, I am getting the same feeling. After a hundred editions, what else is there to do? I think it’s time to say goodbye, and move on. This will be the last edition of News & Analysis. It’s not the end of the world though. I will be back with my old column — The Prime Cut. It won’t be updated as frequently, since I have a lot going on in my life right now, but it will exist. It might have the same format as N & A sometimes. It might just be a news report at other times, and a straight-out opinion piece, and so-on. I’d also suggest joining Inside the Ring Newsletter. Myself and Trevor Hunnicutt will be adding much more to that in the future. You can always find my RAW and SD thoughts there. The bottom line is, this has been a lot of fun, and I want to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to do something fun in my free time. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to have a hobby that I enjoyed, and to do something I love. I appreciate it, and I’m looking forward to giving you more reading material soon. Look out for The Prime Cut. Until then…
It has been a pleasure. Thank you all.
