Instead of Raw being so predictable about what is likely to happen on Sunday at Survivor Series, I’m finding myself extremely confused about two of their main matches. This is great; this is the way to do it. I can’t wait for Sunday. Raw did a hell of a job building up the pay per view. Raw was damn good and I really look forward to Sunday more than ever.
Hunter is back and it seems like his short time off was a very good thing. The fans responded to him in an extremely positive way. As soon as his music hit, and he made his entrance the pops seemed to be louder than ever. And Hunter seemed to pretty hyped himself. I loved his insults to Lita, giving her a dollar to go “nekked” and dance for them. Humiliating one of WWE’s top wrestling diva’s like that was typical heel Hunter and very funny. Also instant chemistry hit as soon as Steve Austin and Hunter were face to face. Again, last night Austin was outstanding. He was not on nearly as much as last week but he still brought so much to the show. A very good opening with the crowd totally into it. And why stop there? let me also give Eric Bischoff some credit. He’s done nothing for me in a while but I found him a lot more entertaining than usual. Maybe it was the way he got in Austin’s face about last night being Austin’s last Raw. Or maybe it was his little pep talk about Lita being “nice” to him since Raw will be his after the Survivor Series. Whatever it was Eric had a good night which made it a good night for the fans as well.
Now for the matches. I enjoyed Christian vs. Rob Van Dam. The only thing that bothered me was why make it an IC title match? Why not just a match? This was another loss for Christian and it just didn’t seem to make sense. But it was a good match and one of the better ones last night. Hurricane and Rosey vs. La Resistance was another nice one to watch. I haven’t mentioned this at all so let me now. Rob Conway can wrestle. I like what I see each week and I especially like him teamed up with Rene Dupree. Terri was thrown into a match as Lita’s partner against those nasty chic’s, Molly and Gail Kim. I guess the reason for Terri in there? So she could show off her thong under her dress. I will say this after seeing Lita get pinned, Sunday has to be her night for a victory.
The match of the night? Shawn Michaels vs. Randy Orton. These two looked great out there. You know I can’t remember one match since Shawn returned where he didn’t look like outstanding. He is totally awesome to watch. I loved this match and I thought having Randy lose made it even better. Why? Because Chris Jericho lost too, but hang on I’ll get there in a little bit. The match that I really did not like last night was The Dudley’s vs. Mark Henry and Scott Steiner. This match never took off and at times I’m sorry to say I found myself totally bored by it. But thankfully I woke up when it was Booker vs. Jericho. A really good match and as I was saying above Jericho lost to Booker. So things start really getting confusing for me now. Three members of Team Bischoff lost last night, Christian, Orton and Jericho. And to top that off after the Booker, Jericho match, Jericho being the big baby that he is attacks Booker. This brings out all of Team Bischoff. They take help in the Booker beating, which then brings Team Austin out, and they are the ones that clean house. It certainly seems like Austin is a dead man on Sunday, and that’s something I didn’t expect. I give a lot of credit to Vince and his staff for really screwing up my thoughts for this match at Survivor Series.
Now that little pattern continues. Because it’s the main event. An injured Goldberg with a cast on his ankle is taking on Batista. The match doesn’t go on too long because Hunter comes out and goes after Goldberg. Hunter gets the pedigree in, and then tries to break Bill’s leg with a chair and sledgehammer. But Goldberg manages to kick Hunter where the sun doesn’t shine and then spear Triple H. Batista makes the save as Goldberg is about to attack Triple H with the hammer, he takes a spear which enables Hunter to get the hell out of the ring. So I’m watching this thinking wait, Hunter pedigreed Goldberg, So Triple H will lose on Sunday. But then you see Goldberg getting the last laugh in, and I mean the last laugh so could he possibly lose on Sunday? God I love this and I can’t wait to get into this more with my predictions over the weekend.
Now that I talked about the matches, how about Chris Jericho and Trish? We didn’t get too see too much of their so-called relationship, but we did see Jericho belittle a staff member for not bringing him water sooner. And when Trish saw this, our sweet Y2J covered up his nastiness by sweet talking Trish and asking her out for a date. So the writers are going to make us wait a little longer to see what Chris really has planned for Trish. Now last night we saw two guys very calm, very mild mannered. I’m talking about Shane and Kane. They met at a Chinese Restaurant, by the way Shane was having dinner before Kane showed up, and I can’t tell you how much I craved Chinese food last night. Anyway Kane finally shows up, and Shane basically tells Kane he’s got his number and the one thing that stuck out was Shane telling Kane that even his brother (Taker) has Kane’s number. Kane came back bragging about what he did to Linda and how happy he was electrocuting Shane. Ah Kane as such pleasant thoughts. The whole thing was done fairly well. I expected a huge brawl to take place and it didn’t. It was all talk and I think after the hospital visits each one has had, and the fires and the limo in the truck there’s really not much more to do. So this segment was the way to go.
Also my Playa Teddy Long did it again. A few weeks ago it was The Heartbreak Cracker. Last night after a Team Bischoff meeting with Jericho pumping up the guys, Orton strolls in late and brags about how he will take care of Austin’s team on Sunday. As he leaves, my man Long says Orton is a cocky cracker. Another classic by a very funny guy. Coach did a super job last night taking over Lillian Garcia’s job as the ring announcer. He has truly endeared himself to me with his new character. And what made it really good, he didn’t get involved in any long segments. And after he lied and gave Jericho the win instead of Booker. It was great seeing the guys from Austin’s team surround him, and watch the Coach get the Dudley’s 3-D.
So as you can see another really good Raw. In fact so good that I ordered Survivor Series already. I now look forward to Smackdown and you just know that John Cena will become the next member of Kurt Angle’s team. I don’t expect Taker to be there but it would be kind of nice if he could surprise the out of his mind Vince McMahon. I hope Smackdown comes off as well as Raw did then we are all in luck.
