Timed to last weekend’s WrestleMania pay-per-view, THQ and Jakks Pacific have offered details on their latest World Wrestling Entertainment video game.
WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 is expected to launch this fall and will include a host of new features, including ”Create-a-Finisher“ and, for the first time, downloadable content.
The game will be available for all major consoles and portable devices. It includes a new tag-team system that will allow players to build momentum, eliminate opponents with ”high-impact double teams and finishers, as well as get the “hot tag’ for the win,“ the companies said.
No word is given on what types of downloadable content will be accessible.
But WWE will be seeing some competition in the marketplace, something that hasn’t really been around since it bought rival World Championship Wrestling in the early part of this decade.
Smaller wrestling group TNA Wrestling plans to release a video game produced by Midway later this year.
Little is known yet about the game, which will include TNA stars Christian Cage, Sting, Kurt Angle and Booker T.
