Smackdown wasn’t on last night because the CW network put a Chicago Bulls game on instead. So tonight I will be watching the show. And since I haven’t seen the show yet I can’t talk about Smackdown so why not make this column something I love talking about, RUMORS! I haven’t done a rumor column in a long time, and there are so many juicy rumors out there that I decided that I would pick three of my favorite ones. Now remember these are just rumors and nothing more. Okay so let me start with rumor number one.
The big rumor out there and this one has gone back and forth a few times but now the latest is that at Wrestlemania the Undertaker will keep his Wrestlemania streak going by beating Batista for the World title. Now as I said at first it was Batista was going over thanks to Taker and keeping the title. And then it changed a little later and supposedly because Batista hasn’t looked to good in the ring, Taker would win. But it then changed again because Batista is such a fan favorite that Taker would not leave with the title. As of a few days ago Taker is a shoe in to win (at least in the rumor department he is). Now who would I like to see win the World Title on April 1st? I’m a Batista fan and I have been ever since he was a part of Evolution. But as much as I would like to see Dave win, I feel since Taker has had this Wrestlemania streak for 14 years I really would hate to see that come to an end. I say give Taker the win, BUT if he does beat Batista I want him on TV week after week, defending that title as often as possible. If he does all of that then let Taker walk out as the new World Champion. Let him have one more title reign before he retires.
This next rumor happens to make me smile quite a bit. From the start I thought Jillian’s signing was funny. She does it so badly that’s its good. A few weeks ago I read that she’s supposed to be doing a bad imitation of Brooke Hogan, so that made me laugh even more. There are times when you can see a slight resemblance to Brooke and I have to say that I find Brooke rather hard to listen too and obviously I’m not the only one since her father the Hulkster can’t do enough to push her every chance he gets hoping that people will buy her record. I just think this could all turn out to be a hell of a gimmick. Well now the rumor is that Jillian’s gimmick was Hunter and Stephanie’s brainchild. Damn this is just getting better and better. Here’s the supposed reason for the Brooke attack. It’s because her father Hulk Hogan seems to have pissed off Vince a few weeks ago when Hogan was on his buddy’s radio show. He called up Vince’s secretary and without her knowing she was on the air she started naming some possible names to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Since the names are something that Vince wants to keep from the public Hogan’s call just infuriated Vince. And because Hunter according to another part of the rumor is no fan of Hogan’s this Brooke Hogan then came to life. I love it; I would love to see Jillian pop with a music video. Listen I don’t know how many of you ever watched Brooke on the Craig Ferguson show a few months ago, but she was there with I believe Paul Wall. Well he was doing the whole song rapping and she would do the chorus and dance well I guess you would call it dancing. Her actions were hysterical and that’s why they could get a lot of mileage out making Jillian the Brooke Hogan of Smackdown and have her do a similar type of video with her adding nothing but a good laugh.
And finally the last rumor is that Kurt Angle thinks he’s the greatest of all time. Oh wait that’s not a rumor he really believes its true. So onto the last rumor. This latest rumor has to do with Mick Foley. As much as Mick wanted to be a part of Wrestlemania, Vince McMahon didn’t seem to think that Mick should be there. According to the rumor, Foley pushed very hard to have a match against Umaga, but Vince and others backstage are said to be quite upset about Mick’s new book, The Hardcore Diaries. It is just a little too honest for their liking. So instead of Foley being at Wrestlemania he is now booked for Raw the night after the pay per view. I haven’t read any excerpts from the book but Foley has never been one to sugar coat his thoughts. I have a feeling that this book could be Foley’s best although I really did like his first book, Have A Nice Day, I thought he kept things very truthful and gave the fans a really nice insight into the wrestling business. How can I resist not buying his new book especially since it’s not sitting well with so many in the WWE?
So there you have some of the latest top rumors. I can’t wait to watch Smackdown tonight, and just from the feedback so many of you sent me the show sounds really good. I will leave you with a request from a reader. He would like to know if Ric Flair and Eugene ever had a match. And if they did have a one on one match would anyone know where he could see this match on the internet. You can email him at leoreriven@yahoo.com.
