Bret Hart did an interview on the SportsByline radio network (sportsbyline.com) with Dave Meltzer. It was a short interview but he will be on in the near future to do a full show. This report is supplied exclusively to PWInsider.com. Please contact PWinsider.com before using this on your site.
Bret talked a little about his book. When asked why he struck the deal with WWE he just wanted to put his differences aside with Vince and think about the fans. He also didn’t think the story could be told the right way without him being involved and didn’t want it to be like a Confidential piece WWE did a few years ago.
No complaints about WWE. He said things were done the right way this past week and everything was first class. He doesn’t think that he will be taken advantage of as far as the DVD goes. He doesn’t want to ignore the Survivor Series but also doesn’t want to make a big deal out of it.
Bret says that when you suffer a stroke and you find yourself on your back and you carry these things (Owen/The Montreal screwjob) around on your back, you realize (after the stroke) that you drop that bag. He said that you don’t forget what happened in the past but having the stroke made him realize that he has to start living again and he’s happy that he’s living again.
Nothing else besides the DVD was talked about. Nothing else is in the works for now but Bret doesn’t see himself going back on shows in any capacity and definitely not getting back into the ring. He doesn’t want to be remembered as a manager, or referee or commissioner. Bret said that he got a lot of input on the matches on the DVD. He said that they would have some Stampede wrestling on it too.
