rey-mysterio-suffers-injury-causes-tv-changes

Rey Mysterio wrestled Shelton Benjamin at the SmackDown! tapings this past Tuesday night in a match for the WWE Superstars program. However, Mysterio ended up injuring his knee in that bout. The situation became a problem as this caused for the entire SmackDown! show to be rewritten on the go. The original plan was for a Mysterio vs. Edge main event which would turn into a tag team match of Mysterio & Hardy vs. Edge & Jericho (in one of the rewrites also thought of as Mysterio & Punk vs. Edge & Umaga). Instead, the Edge vs. Jericho main event was put together on the fly with the two guys having very little time to prepare. The same happened with the CM Punk & John Morrison vs. Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas bout. A third match was added last minute in R-Truth vs. Mike Knox, the rematch. The word we got is that SmackDown! ended up being another good show because Edge/Jericho delivered, and so did the Punk/Morrison vs. Benjamin/Haas tag match, although both were booked on the fly.

As far as Mysterio’s status, his injury is believed to be not serious, and he is expected to wrestle Jericho at Judgment Day.
